C A M I L L A J O N E S M U S I C
I like my music slow, my tea lukewarm and the vocal improv everlasting.
In daily life I find things can get overwhelming, Camilla Jones is a gentle attempt to slow down and remember what's important. Through soothing, delicate melodies and honest journal-to-song lyrics I hope to help unwind, unravel, and un-complicate fellow tightly-strung minds.
Irish-born and Tasmanian-raised, my musical pathway lead to undertaking a BMus in Composition and Production at the Australian Institute of Music. After graduating in 2016 I followed the pull of the Emerald Isle and returned to Dublin, where i’ve been based the last 3 years.
Call it luck-of-the-irish, in Dublin I was fortunate enough to play extensively. From busking on famous Grafton Street and the cobblestones of Temple Bar; to various songwriter events including the International Bar, Clockwork Door and Bruxelles; securing a 2-year residency in O’Connells Bar on Bachelors walk, and support slots in The Workmans Club, Tivoli Backstage and Sine E. Most notably in early 2018 I formed a band which went on to win the 2018 King Kong Club, subsequently performing at Battle For the Bay Festival in Dollymount.
I'm delighted to be home in Hobart, the perfect place to bunker down and work on developing my production skills. After a summer of singing at local markets i’m looking forward to winter pub gigs and I hope you can join me soon, wherever so we both shall be.
My strongest influences are a mix of irish folk singers and contemporary songwriters, i’ve been told I sit somewhere between Mary Black (irish Trad), Sinead O’Connor (The Cranberries) and Missy Higgins.
You can find me on the usual platforms, Instagram, Soundcloud, Youtube, and Facebook.
